Who are we looking for?
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Senior Engineer / Technical Director Dams to join our growing Dams team based in Townsville.
This role offers the opportunity to further develop your technical and leadership capabilities while working with one of Australia's most respected dams engineering teams. You will contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects spanning water supply, tailings, hydropower and dam safety, working alongside recognised industry specialists across Australia and internationally.
GHD's Dams team includes more than 100 dams professionals across Australia, supported by an expanding international network. With a strong pipeline of major dams, tailings and pumped hydro projects across Australia and New Zealand, there has never been a better time to join our team.
Working with an energetic and high performing team, you will:
- Deliver and manage technical work across a broad range of dams projects, including water dams and tailings storage facilities.
- Apply your expertise in geotechnical engineering, structural engineering and/or design management to project delivery.
- Contribute to the planning, assessment, design and construction phases of dams projects across Northern Australia and beyond.
- Develop trusted client relationships and support business development opportunities.
- Prepare proposals, technical reports, designs and engineering assessments.
- Mentor and support the development of junior engineers and emerging professionals.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality outcomes for our clients.
What you will bring to the team:
- Significant experience in dams engineering, typically gained over 7 or more years.
- Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or related discipline.
- RPEQ status, Chartered Engineer status, equivalent professional accreditation, or demonstrated progress toward obtaining professional registration.
- Experience in the design and assessment of a range of dam types, including embankment and concrete dams.
- Knowledge of dam safety, risk assessments, spillway design, outlet works, intake structures, hydropower facilities and/or construction phase services.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and project teams.
