Senior Estimator

Meka Recruitment is excited to be working with a leading Civil company that has grown through the quality of their workmanship of their projects. As they have a strong focus on DTMR and rail projects you will have extensive experience in Estimating Road and rail projects. Duties will include, but not limited to: 

• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders 
• Attend forums and site to ensure that you have a clear understanding of the scope of works 
• Develop rapport with the sub-contractors and any external companies to ensure that you are up to date with the latest rates, material costs and any other pricing that will be utilised in the project
• Work with the Project Manager and Construction Superintendent to develop realistic project schedule, workforce and subcontractors required 
• Negotiate all rates with Subcontractors to ensure that you are receiving the best possible rate 
• Update the system to ensure that the pricing and labour costs are correct and up to date
• Ensure that all tenders are submitted are on time as requested by the principal contractor
• Follow up on all tenders for feedback on what you could do better if you are unsuccessful, submit the feedback to the Senior Executive team for review and suggest solutions moving forward
• Keep up to date with the civil construction legislations and/or changes that may be relevant to the projects 
• Meet with the Senior Executive team on a regular basis to ensure that you are up to date with the upcoming projects

The ideal person will:

• Have experience estimating in DTMR and Rail works 
• Able to read and understand the plans of the projects to enable correct markups 
• Great communication skills both verbal and written as you will be dealing with a number if internal and external stakeholders 
• Ability to negotiate as you will be dealing with Subcontractors and suppliers and will need to ensure that you have the best price for the company 
• Understand the civil construcion regulations, legislations and interpret any changes that are made and bring the team up to date 
• Update software with the latest prices for materials and labour 
• Work with the Construcion superintendent to estimate any variations that need to be made and ensure that all aspects of the variation is included in the price. 
• Able to travel throughout QLD and northern NSW when required to attend the site inspections
