Senior Facade Engineer

JOB PURPOSE

• Hold responsibility for the supervision of construction projects
• Manage both technical and commercial aspects of projects
• Provides guidance and leadership to junior team members

QUALIFICATION / EXPERIENCE

• Master's Degree in Structural or Mechanical Engineering
• Facade Engineer with minimum 8 years' experience in façades engineering, reviewing and with a creative architectural engineering mindset
• Chartered Engineer with IstructE or a Member of Society of Façade Engineering
• Strong understanding of international codes such as ASTM and BS EN.

GENERAL EXPECTANCY

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Independently manage complex projects and resolve complex project issues- at detail design and construction stage and remedial of existing projects.
• Conduct Façade diagnosis inspections and reporting.
• Conduct factory & site inspections and reporting, including testing and visual & performance mock-ups.
• Generating multiple instances of repeat work with clients.
• Provide line management, guidance and leadership to more junior team members.
• Updating existing construction check list templates.
• Keeping up to date with the facade market/standards/code of practice.
• Development of research publications.
• Strong technical understanding of geometric complex façade systems & supporting steel structures, including their development in 3D software platform environments.
• Good ability to conduct finite element analysis for architectural façade steel structures, complex glazed elements, metal components and other materials.
• Familiar with engineering review of shop drawings.

• Industry Experience / Thought Leadership: Demonstrated expertise in discipline, industry leadership through participation in industry professional groups and conferences and the development of research publications.
• Project Management / Operational Delivery: Proven expertise in discipline with a track record of numerous projects ($150k) successfully delivered independently with high level of Client feedback. Independently manage complex projects and resolve complex project issues. They lead efforts to streamline cross-functional processes and drive efficiency across the organisation.
• Leadership / Team Management Experience: Ability to independently project manage delivery and guide junior team members within the project team or mentoring junior team members / graduates. Provide guidance and leadership to more junior team members.
• Commercial Acumen / Business Development: Proficiency in creating and managing project budgets, tracking expenses, and ensuring cost control. Managing relationships with project vendors, negotiating contracts, and ensuring cost-effective procurement. Client oriented and contributes to commercial success of the division.
• Problem Solving / Decision Making: Generate viable options for addressing problems. Consider the long-term implications of each option.
• Employee Focus / Process Compliance: Skilled in managing employee relations and fostering a positive work environment. Assesses business and operational risks. Ensure proper implementation of regulations.
