Job Description

What Aurora Dairies can offer you

Aurora Dairies are currently seeking a Senior Farm Hand (or Farm Hand) for a dairy farm in Simpson, located between Colac and Warrnambool in Victoria. The farm is approximately 265ha effective area, currently milking 550 Friesian cows, through a 50 bail rotary shed with ACR’s and auto teat spray.

GEA Dairy Plan is used for herd recording and the farm is predominantly pasture based with grain fed in the dairy. This farm is 70% Autumn and 30% Spring calving starting in March and late August.

This is a full time role at 45-50 hours per week. Accommodation is available and we have two roles vacant - a couple may be considered depending on their skills and experience.

This role will include tasks the areas of:

  • Driving and upholding Animal Health and Safe Operating Procedures.
  • All aspects of milking.
  • Animal husbandry.
  • Pasture management.
  • Machinery operation.
  • Repairs and maintenance.

Qualifications

The desired skills and experience for this opportunity are:

  • Past dairy industry experience is highly desirable for this position, but we may consider inexperienced applicants with the right attitude at Farm Hand level.
