Job Description - Senior Finance Manager - Cannon-Brookes Collective

The Company

Robert Half is partnering with Cannon-Brookes Collective, a founder-led private office focused on long-term investing, innovation and impact. Through its investment and philanthropic platforms, the Collective manages a diverse portfolio across climate, technology, sports and system-level change.

Based at The Embassy in Woollahra, the business operates with a long-term horizon and a clear ambition to build and back high-impact ventures.

The Finance team sits at the centre of this, supporting both portfolio performance and broader priorities in an environment defined by pace, precision and high impact.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Finance and working closely with the CFO, this is a broad, hands-on role within a high-performing finance function. You will act as a true right hand to the Head of Finance, taking ownership across financial reporting, tax, treasury and core finance processes, while partnering closely across the business.

This role offers exposure to a complex, multi-entity environment and the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing build of a scalable, best-in-class finance function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee tax compliance (BAS, FBT, PAYG, returns) and manage the external audit process, ensuring statutory compliance and continuous improvement of governance.
  • Maintain the integrity and accuracy of critical financial data-sets, specifically owning tax cost-base registers and investment fair value trackers.
  • Drive budgeting, quarterly forecasting, commercial analysis, and scenario modelling in partnership with senior stakeholders.
  • Lead continuous improvement and automation initiatives across systems and reporting, harnessing the full capability of existing and new AI tools.
  • Provide mentor-ship and oversight to elevate finance capability and standards across the team.

About You:

You are a technically strong accountant with a background in audit, ideally trained in a Big 4, leading mid-tier firm or business services, now operating in or ready to move into a hands-on commercial environment.

You bring:

  • CA qualification with 6-10+ years' senior experience in complex multi-entity, funds management, private equity, or family office environments.
  • Expertise in technical accounting (statutory financial statements) and compliance, with demonstrated experience in tax compliance across complex structures.
  • Proven ability to operate at a senior level, taking ownership of reporting integrity and control environments.
  • Strong financial modelling, forecasting, and analytical capability; experience with FX and cross-border tax considerations highly regarded.
  • Systems and automation-oriented, leveraging technology to enhance efficiency and insight.
  • Low-ego, collaborative team player and confident communicator, with a strong ownership mindset and a passion for climate and/or sustainability.
  • Interest in systems, process improvement and emerging technologies (incl. AI)

Why This Role

  • Work within a high-calibre finance team in a well-capitalised private office
  • Broad exposure across investments, operations and finance
  • Opportunity to contribute to a finance function being actively built and improved
  • Meaningful work across climate, innovation and long-term investment
  • Strong development opportunity in a dynamic, high-pace environment

Additional Benefits

  • Annual impact bonus (donation directed by you)
  • Competitive package with performance incentives
  • Culture of high performance, low ego, and challenging work, with a healthy annual budget for training and career development.
  • Access to the state-of-the-art Embassy office, regular team connection events (bootcamp, lunches, socials).
  • EV novated leasing.
  • Life Insurance cover.
