About the role
The Fitzroy to Gladstone pipeline is being delivered as a 50/50 joint venture with partners BMD. This integral water supply project comprises of a 117 kilometre water pipeline, intake pump station, intermediate pump stations, reservoirs and a water treatment plant. With the ability to deliver 30 gigalitres per annum from the Fitzroy River to Gladstone, it will support long-term water security for the region as well as the emerging hydrogen industry in Queensland.
The position of Senior Health and Safety Advisor sits on this long-term project with future opportunities available within the wider McConnell Dowell business. This position will work on a 15/6 roster with site uplift applicable.
As the Senior Health and Safety Advisor, your responsibilities will include:
- Report on health and safety matters to the Health and Safety Manager and Construction Manager.
- Liaise with and advise construction personnel in regard to mitigation and management of risks and hazards. .
- Conduct audits on high risk activities for the top 5 risks on your project
- Collate, analyse and interpret health and safety data across the project and report to Project Manager.
- Complete health and safety investigations and develop reports on all incident investigations in line with client and McConnell Dowell reporting requirements.
- Review site risk registers, with identified controls for each construction execution plan and support Construction Risk Assessment Workshops as necessary.
- Provide ongoing health and safety advice to Supervisors, Contractors and site workers to eliminate or minimize hazards.
- Assist in reporting, investigating and implementing corrective and/or preventive actions resulting from identification of hazards, near miss incidents and work-related illness/injury.
- Work to achieve the project health and safety targets and building a strong health and safety culture.
About you - Minimum of five years’ operational experience in the application of health and safety management principles in the construction industry
- Prior experience working in a construction project environment, pipeline projects highly regarded.
- Self-sufficient, requiring minimal supervision.
- Have proficient skills in the Microsoft Office suite of programs and be computer literate.
- McConnell Dowell internal health and safety management training courses.
