Job Description - Senior Heritage Officer

Role type: Full Time; Fixed Term until February 2029 
Department: Corporate Development; Chief Operating Officer Portfolio 

Salary: UoM 8 - $125,191 - $135,504 p.a. plus 17% super

Your next career opportunity 

As a Senior Heritage Officer, you will play a pivotal role in managing and enhancing the University’s historic estate. You will ensure compliance with heritage legislation, provide expert advice, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. This role offers you the chance to contribute to the preservation of the University's heritage estate in accordance with heritage best practice. 

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Ensure Heritage Compliance: Support and implement procedures and frameworks to maintain compliance with heritage legislation. 

  • Provide Advisory Services: Offer expert advice on heritage best practices and statutory requirements to internal stakeholders. 

  • Manage Regulatory Approvals: Oversee the process of obtaining statutory heritage approvals for University projects. 

  • Facilitate Stakeholder Collaboration: Work across divisions to integrate heritage considerations into projects and initiatives. 

You may be a great fit if: 

You will have a postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline, possess strong organisational skills, and demonstrate expertise in heritage compliance and regulatory environments. 

You may also: 

  • Demonstrate strong organisational and research skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects. 

  • Have high-level interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders. 

  • Be proficient in MS Office applications and have strong data management skills. 

  • Uphold high standards of compliance, governance, and quality assurance.

The Corporate Development (CD) team's objective is to advance University strategy and operations by driving increased institutional capacity and improving stakeholder experience. It is responsible for ensuring that the University’s property, infrastructure and sustainability strategies support the University’s objectives. This position is based in the Estate Planning and Performance team.
