We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Legal Counsel who will provide expert legal advice and support on a wide range of commercial transactions, principally in connection with the Commercial & Industrial business. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong negotiation skills and the ability to manage complex legal issues.

Responsibilities & Requirements

Commercial:

• Draft and review a variety of commercial agreements.
• Provide legal advice on contract interpretation, risk management, and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure contracts align with business objectives and mitigate potential risks.

General Legal Support:

• Provide strategic legal advice to senior management and other departments within the organisation.
• Stay updated on relevant legal developments and support compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Assist in the development and implementation of legal policies and procedures
• Manage relationships with external legal counsel and other third-party advisors.

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent; admission to practice law in Australia.
• Current Australian Practising Certificate
• Minimum of 8 years of post-qualification experience in commercial/corporate law, preferably within the energy or industrial sector
• Proven experience in drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements, with a particular focus on commercial sales contracts and tenders.
• Expertise in competition/consumer law.
• Experience in construction law.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
