Senior Legal Counsel - Technology - Top ASX Listed Organisation

The role:
Seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join this top ASX Listed Organisation which is experiencing substantial core growth due to joint ventures and developing partnerships. This role reports into the Executive Manager, Legal, Innovation & Technology.
  
The purpose of the role and your unique contribution is to provide legal advice in the key functional areas of commercial contracting, technology, privacy, data, and IP. Work closely with the Technology and Innovation team on cutting edge joint ventures and be part of a high performing team within an award-winning 'Employer of Choice' organisation with flexible working arrangements and a good approach to work/life balance.


Responsibilities:

• Drafting / negotiating / advising on a broad range of commercial and technology-related contracts, intellectual property, privacy and data
• Partnering: outsourcing; joint ventures and other strategic partnerships
• Consumer and Competition: Competition and Consumer Act
• Establishing deep and effective relationships with business partners to understand their business drivers and strategic priorities
• Providing high quality, strategic, pragmatic and commercially focused legal and governance advice to business partners and peers
• Monitoring legislative/regulatory changes in key functional areas (technology, privacy, data, IP and commercial contracting), and providing advice to proactively identify issues which may impact strategy, operational issues or business processes.
• Project managing all legal aspects of new projects and initiatives as directed from time to time

  
The ideal candidate will have:

• At least 8 years post qualification legal experience, including in TMT or corporate/general commercial at top tier private practice or ASX Top 20 financial services companies
• Experience in the following functional areas, commercial contracting, privacy, data, IP, consumer law and technology
• In-house legal experience or strong law firm background
• Strong experience in drafting commercial contracts
• Ability to build strong relationships with the business
• Desire to work as part of a dynamic, well supported, collaborative team
