In this role, you'll:
Reporting to the Associate Director Design, The Senior Manager Design will lead aspects of design development across the project, providing strategic oversight, expert advice, and governance for architecture, urban design, engineering coordination, landscape, and technical design disciplines associated with transport infrastructure and related corridors and precincts.
You will be responsible for reviewing and assessing and the project designs, ensuring all designs and specifications are of the highest quality, align with Sydney Metro requirements, customer and transport product requirements, integrate effectively with other transport modes, incorporate best-practice master planning principles, support project development workstreams, and comply with contractual obligations.
You will lead the management and delivery of design outcomes across Metro assets, corridors, and precincts, and ensuring design outcomes contribute to a safe, functional, sustainable, and integrated transport network.

About you
You will bring a strong understanding of the breadth of project and business activities within a complex, evolving infrastructure and construction environment, where risks, priorities and stakeholder expectations are continually changing. You will effectively navigate the sensitivities of operating within a government service setting, ensuring that all activities are underpinned by best practice, robust governance and sound decision-making that can withstand significant public and stakeholder scrutiny.
You will maintain a thorough knowledge of architectural design and compliance, of current and emerging policy, regulatory requirements, industry trends and Transport for NSW standards, applying this insight to support project outcomes and organisational objectives. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will proactively escalate and manage issues, provide strategic advice, deliver timely updates on key projects and priorities, and contribute to planning, policy development and informed decision-making.
You will leverage your demonstrated experience in risk identification, assessment and mitigation, alongside strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, to interpret complex and sensitive information, prepare high-quality reports and make balanced, evidence-based decisions that support successful project delivery.
You will hold recognised architectural qualifications as a minimum and have substantial experience in architectural design and management, demonstrating strong leadership, project delivery, and stakeholder management capabilities.
