Senior Manager Finance Transformation

ING’s Finance division is seeking a Senior Manager Finance Transformation to join our Sydney office.

Reporting directly to the CFO, this role leads the coordination and execution of the Finance Transformation Roadmap. You will partner closely with Finance teams to drive enhancements across data architecture, project delivery, and end‑to‑end process improvement, focusing on digitisation and automation to uplift capability across the Finance function.

You will design and deliver a multi‑year transformation program that transitions Finance to an integrated systems suite, improving efficiency, accuracy, reporting quality, control, and governance.

A key part of the role is ensuring that Finance processes, services, and products comply with all internal policies, standards, and procedural requirements, as well as external regulatory obligations in Australia and ING Bank NV’s consolidated reporting requirements.

Success in this role requires building strong, collaborative relationships with Technology and the Transformation Office (locally and with Head Office) to align change roadmaps, resources, and Finance business requirements. You also need to demonstrate strong leadership skills to drive capabilities’ uplift across Finance teams. You will also work closely with Operational Risk Management, Corporate Audit Services, and the ODCR Office to support Finance’s risk and control objectives.

What you’ll do

• Ensuring the ongoing effectiveness of the required infrastructure across data, processes and systems
• Development of a framework to document, measure and improve key processes
• Developing and executing the Finance Transformation Roadmap including reporting on the status of the roadmap, cost estimate of initiatives, driving prioritisation, ensuring appropriate resourcing and milestone delivery
• Defining and tracking the benefits of Finance digitization initiatives
• Influencing Head office, Enterprise and Architecture teams to execute change programs; and explore and assess new ways of working to the benefit of Finance such as robotics and digitisation
• Managing the Finance Transformation Team of Data / SQL / Process Management experts
• Supporting entire Finance Leadership Team in capabilities’ uplift across Finance domain
• Executing with own team as part of daily activities process optimization and data processing automation activities of Finance domain (small business initiatives not part of change portfolio)

What we’re looking for

• 5 + years in financial services industry
• University degree in Business, Commerce or Economics
• Banking experience - ideally experience in different areas of banking finance (FA/MA)
• Leadership of Finance Transformation projects
• Knowledge of operational accounting, general ledger systems, controls and requirements
• Exposure to complex systems and control frameworks within the financial services industry
• Highly effective delegation skills
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with key stakeholders by building and maintaining relationships
• Ability to motivate and lead staff and peers, as well as ability to coach and mentor team
