About the role

The Senior Manager Financial Crime Sanctions, ABC, FACTA/CRS will report directly to the Executive, Financial Crime Risk (and Deputy MLRO).

You will be the lead subject matter expert for Sanctions, Anti-Bribery & Corruption (ABC), and Tax Transparency (FATCA/CRS). Your primary purpose is to design and deliver robust risk management strategies for all non-AML/CTF/Fraud financial crime risks, ensuring the bank maintains a resilient and defensible framework against these dynamic threats.

You will own the end-to-end risk management strategy for these critical areas. This includes everything from policy design and implementation to providing expert advice and effective second-line oversight.

Key accountabilities include:

• Policy Framework Ownership: Designing, implementing, and maintaining the bank's policies, standards, and control frameworks for Sanctions, ABC, and FATCA/CRS.


• Second-Line Risk Oversight: Providing effective second-line oversight to ensure business controls are designed effectively and operating as intended.


• Expert Advisory and Guidance: Acting as the bank’s ultimate subject matter expert on Sanctions, ABC, and Tax Transparency to provide pragmatic advice on complex transactions and high-risk customers.


• Incident and Investigations Management: Leading the investigation and management of potential breaches, including any necessary regulatory disclosures.


• Regulatory Change Management: Identifying, assessing, and overseeing the implementation of changes stemming from new regulations.


• Training and Awareness: Developing and overseeing targeted training programs for relevant employees and senior management.
  

What you’ll bring to the role

Essential

• Expert knowledge of Australian and key international Sanctions regimes (e.g., UN, OFAC, HMT, EU).


• Expert knowledge of anti-bribery and corruption laws (e.g., Australian Criminal Code, US FCPA, UK Bribery Act) and best-practice controls.


• Expert knowledge of global tax transparency regimes, specifically FATCA and CRS.


• A track record of designing and implementing policy frameworks and control programs for these specific financial crime risk types.


• Experience managing or leading the response to potential regulatory breaches, making timely and defensible risk-based decisions under pressure.
  

Highly desirable

• A tertiary qualification in a relevant field.


• Financial Crime industry qualifications such as ACAMs or AFCS.

This is a permanent full-time position located in Melbourne, Bendigo, Adelaide, Sydney or Brisbane.
