Develop thinking and analysis that will support strategic decision-making of the Commonwealth Bank's senior leaders, both Board of Directors and Executive Leadership Team.

Build knowledge and understanding of the most important topics shaping strategy in banking - from tech and AI to geopolitics and macroeconomics and Australian national sovereignty and prosperity.

Your business

Led by the Executive General Manager Group Strategy, the Group Strategy team is responsible for developing and driving a coordinated strategic agenda across the Group while reinforcing the Group's purpose and values.

Your team

Group Strategy is composed of high-calibre and passionate individuals from a range of backgrounds, including management consulting, corporate strategy and technology.

Our core activities are achieved from engagement and collaboration with senior stakeholders across the breadth of the Group's business and support units.

These activities include:

• Analyse the operating context and identify potential medium- to longer-term opportunities or issues that are of strategic significance to the Group's portfolio of businesses.

• Evaluate implications of the evolving operating context, and develop strategic options and recommendations to achieve the Group's vision and objectives over the medium to longer term, including AI planning and enablement for the organisation.

• Facilitate the annual strategy development and operating planning processes with the Executive Leadership Team and Board of Directors.

Your responsibilities

• Contribute to framing and decision-making on the most important near- and long-term challenges and opportunities facing the Group and the Australian financial services industry.

• Make tangible, concrete recommendations to help achieve the Group's vision and objectives over the medium to longer term.

• Lead / execute projects end to end by working with stakeholders across the Group. This includes identifying, framing and scoping strategic problems, project management, undertaking primary external / internal research, synthesising complex information, developing high-quality solutions and writing clear reports, while succinctly communicating them to relevant stakeholders.

• Develop and maintain trusted relationships with key internal and external stakeholders who may contribute to, influence or be impacted by the Group's strategy.

• Support the Group Strategy team to build practice tools, including frameworks, approaches and solutions to enhance the team's productivity.

• Foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture, share learnings and contribute to uplift capabilities in the team.

Your skills and experience

• Relevant exposure to one or more of the following fields: management consulting, corporate strategy, investment banking, law or technology.

• Exposure to the financial services sector is a plus.

• Ability to self-start, take ownership, work independently and drive outcomes on complex strategic cases, with demonstrated structured problem-solving capability and hypothesis-led thinking and analysis.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively and efficiently in high-performing teams.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

• A curious, humble mindset - a genuine appetite to learn continuously, and self-awareness to recognise and own mistakes quickly.
