Job Description - Senior Manager, Media

The Role


As we continue to grow our footprint across Australia, New Zealand, and the UK, we are looking for an experienced Senior Media Leader to spearhead our paid media initiatives across our key markets. This role requires deep expertise in media planning and buying, audience segmentation, and digital transformation. You will lead media strategy across all parts of our portfolio, oversee execution, and collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to drive performance. This is a high-impact role where you will have the opportunity to shape the media approach for a category-defining brand.

You Will



  • Media Strategy & Execution

    • Develop and execute a comprehensive paid media strategy that aligns with Afterpay's growth and brand objectives.

    • Oversee media planning and buying across all channels, including Social Media, Video, TV, OOH, Paid Search, Programmatic Display, Digital Partnerships and more.

    • Leverage first-party data and audience insights to create targeted, high-performing campaigns that drive customer acquisition and retention.

    • Partner with internal teams to develop a seamless omnichannel approach that integrates paid media with owned and earned channels.

    • Identify and implement new media technologies, tools, and innovations to stay ahead of industry trends.

    • Partner with creative teams to develop high-performing, channel-optimized content that enhances engagement and conversion.



  • Performance & Optimization

    • Lead media investment decisions, ensuring optimal budget allocation and ROI across all parts of our portfolio.

    • Work closely with analytics and data teams to monitor performance, optimize campaigns in real-time, and implement A/B testing strategies.

    • Develop and maintain measurement frameworks, including incrementality testing, attribution modelling, and audience segmentation to refine media effectiveness.

    • Drive efficiencies in media buying by negotiating rates, managing partnerships with agencies, and ensuring Afterpay benefits from competitive pricing while driving better outcomes.



  • Leadership & Stakeholder Management

    • Serve as Afterpay's go-to media expert across the business, advising senior stakeholders on media strategy, performance & opportunities.

    • Lead and mentor a high-performing team of media professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous learning.

    • Work cross-functionally with brand, product, finance, compliance, and data science ensuring media aligns with overall business objectives.

    • Manage relationships with our agencies and key media owners, platforms (Google, Meta, TikTok, TV networks, OOH vendors, DSPs, etc.).




You Have



  • 10+ years of experience in media planning and buying, with a strong track record in ANZ (UK experience a plus).

  • Proven ability to lead multi-million-dollar media budgets, ensuring efficient allocation and cost control.

  • Expertise in digital, data, and technology-driven media strategies, with a strong understanding of performance marketing and brand marketing.

  • Strong understanding of media mix modelling, audience segmentation, and performance forecasting.

  • Experience in working within a matrix organization, managing multiple stakeholders, and influencing C-suite executives.

  • Ability to balance big-picture strategy with hands-on execution in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and develop teams while driving results.

  • Passionate about innovation, media trends and consumption habits, and digital transformation.
