About the Role

As Senior Overseer, you will play a key leadership role within the Facilities Maintenance team at the correctional centre. You will lead and support Overseers, coordinate maintenance activities and develop inmates through structured, practical workplace training that builds trade skills, work readiness and future employment opportunities.

You will be responsible for planning and coordinating preventative, corrective and statutory maintenance activities, allocating labour and resources, monitoring service delivery and supporting continuous improvement across the correctional complex. You will help ensure maintenance services are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard while meeting requirements relating to security, workplace health and safety, asset management, compliance and probity.

What you’ll do

• Lead, coach and develop Overseers and work teams to achieve operational and organisational objectives.


• Plan, coordinate and oversee maintenance activities, ensuring resources are effectively allocated and priorities are delivered.


• Supervise, train and mentor inmates through practical workplace activities, building vocational skills, safe work practices and work readiness.


• Monitor the quality, timeliness and effectiveness of maintenance services and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.


• Ensure work is undertaken in accordance with policies, procedures, security requirements and probity obligations.


• Maintain a safe and compliant workplace for staff, contractors, inmates and visitors.


• Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders, contractors and service providers to support reliable facility operations.

The Successful candidates are provided with paid training to undertake Certificate III in Correctional Practice at an allocated Corrective Services Academy training facility.

Essential Requirements

• Relevant trade or tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate III level in the following): Fitter, Fitter & Turner, Mechanical Fitter or related engineering trade


• Current Certificate III in Correctional Practice or capacity to complete within 12 months


• Ability and willingness to work across trades as required


• Current NSW Driver Licence and preparedness to drive a vehicle while performing the role


• Experience which demonstrates the ability to meet the key accountabilities and focus capabilities as detailed in the role description
