About you

Drawing on your real-life experience, coupled with skills learned through education and training, the Senior Peer Wellbeing Navigator, will lead a team of Peer Wellbeing Navigators to support and represent people impacted by mental illness, psychological distress and substance use or addiction.

You will be comfortable to share personal experiences with program consumers within a safe and supported way and will have personal experience of a mental illness or psychological distress and recovery

Your leadership experience in the health or community services sector will be of great value in this role as well as your proven leadership and experience in working within a mental health or equivalent community-based support role with lived experience.

Main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Providing leadership, coaching and supervision to a team of Peer Wellbeing Navigators

  • Satisfy reporting requirements

  • Providing intentional peer support

  • Providing one on one service navigation and care planning

  • 1:1 and group interventions

  • Capacity building

  • Support engagement with clinical supports

The position may also carry a small caseload of participants, as needed, providing service navigation and linking participants to relevant therapy services.

You will also need:

  • Personal Experience of mental distress and accessing and navigating health services, including mental health services

  • Certificate IV Mental Health Peer Work, SHARC Peer Worker Training, Intentional Peer Support or willingness to complete

  • 2+ year relevant work experience in a peer worker or leadership role

  • National Police Check

  • Current Working with Children Check - employment

  • NDIS Workers Screening check

  • Evidence of right to work in Australia

  • 100 points of identification

  • NDIS Workers Orientation module certificate – free online course
