Senior Project Engineer

Connect People are seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer for our client's South Brisbane base of operations.

Our client is one of Australia's largest water and sewer maintenance capital service providers, providing a range of planned, maintenance, repair, restoration and renewal services across Australia.

Project Engineering experience in the water/waster sector is highly regarded.

Initial 3-month contract with the option for permanent placement.

Flexibile with start times from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, totaling 38 hours per week. 70% office base, 30% site based. 

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide technical advice, develop project documentation, support on-site coordination, and assist in identifying and controlling potential hazardous site activities to aid Operations Delivery teams in delivering multi-disciplinary projects.
- Report on project performance and progress, and develop solutions for issues compromising performance targets.
- Participate in Safety in Design process, provide critical project input, ensure timely completion of approved construction drawings, and integrate community, environment, operations, and maintenance considerations into planning and design.
- Conduct ongoing value engineering reviews, assess design constructability, and develop safety assessment reports for Zero Harm team review.
- Assist in developing project budgets, support technical leads in methodology development and procurement, and liaise with delivery partners, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Provide accurate cost reports and forecasts, ensure financial targets are met without compromising environmental, community, and client satisfaction KPIs, and perform additional duties as needed within expertise and business scope.

Required Skills & Experience:
- Engineering Degree (RPEQ qualification also highly regarded)
- 3+ years of project engineering experience within the water and/or waste industry in Queensland.
- Proficient in delivering self-perform D&C projects, managing subcontractors, and developing scope of works and subcontractor agreements.
- Skilled in financial management and reporting, including budgeting, as well as developing and managing schedules.
- Demonstrated expertise in ensuring quality outcomes, coupled with clear and concise communication, organizational and time management skills, and adeptness in building strong relationships with stakeholders.
- Current Drivers license
- Proof of immunity or willingness to undergo vaccination for Hepatitis A and B.
