The Senior Project Manager will work with senior business unit leaders, operational staff, and internal and external providers to understand business requirements and deliver improved capability for the Department. Reporting to the Director, Project Management Branch (PMB) the role provides high level project management expertise to manage the full life cycle of assigned programs and technology projects. The incumbent will apply their expertise and exercise a high level of judgement to the coordination of communication, consultation, and transition activities to ensure business readiness, successful delivery of outcomes, and realisation of benefits.

Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight- flexible options available.

Duties

  • Plan, design and manage the delivery of assigned programs and projects, using appropriate management tools and techniques to ensure milestones are achieved and outcomes delivered as planned in a timely and user-friendly manner.
  • Manage the financial, information, human and physical resources of the projects in accordance with Government and Departmental policies, guidelines, and directions.
  • Work with stakeholders to successfully transition to new Information Technology (IT) based solutions including changes to existing established processes and procedures.
  • Liaise, consult, and communicate at senior management level, representing the Project Management Branch (PMB) with other Agencies, program participants and stakeholders.
  • Undertake development and maintenance of project related documentation and reports including project briefs, project management plans, project status reports and risk/issues registers.
  • As a senior member of the PMB, contribute to the development of frameworks and best-practice processes and provide guidance regarding implementation to other staff.
  • Perform other duties as envisaged by the assigned classification under the relevant industrial award or agreement and in accordance with the skills, competence, and training of the occupant.

2.Disciplinary action in previous employment.

  • Relevant tertiary or industry recognised qualifications and expertise in Project Management, combined with 5+ years of experience in roles with similar duties.
  • Relevant tertiary or industry recognised qualifications and expertise in IT Service Management and/or Organisational Change Management.
