Job Description - Senior Project Manager

The Senior Project Manager, Whole of Government Enterprise Resource Planning Program is to lead the delivery of their assigned projects in a collaborative manner across all areas of the department, and stakeholders across the ACT Government to ensure effective delivery of the ERP Program.

The Senior Project Manager may need to directly supervise staff and has a matrix reporting structure to the Senior Director, Project and Program Community of Practice and Project Responsible Officer and/or Executive.
 
WHAT YOU WILL DO
  1. Take delivery responsibility for the assigned ERP projects, in accordance with the departments delivery frameworks, processes and tools to ensure deliverables are completed within the agreed baseline and that the expected stakeholder outcomes are achieved.
  2. Provide effective leadership to the multi-disciplinary teams working on the ERP projects ensuring processes and tools are used effectively and the team is successful in their objectives.
  3. Establish and build relationships with key customer contacts, stakeholders and vendors to ensure effective engagement, communication, issue resolution and implementation of the project and program objectives.
  4. Ensure that identified risks and issues are assessed, their impact and probability are known, and mitigation strategies are developed, reported and when needed, enacted, and monitored.
  5. Develop and maintain essential artefacts, including but not limited to, Project Plans, Exception Reports, progress reports and project Risk, Issue, Action, Decision and Dependency (RAIDD) logs.
  6. Ensure that outcomes and benefits are forecast, planned and monitored to ensure their effective realisation.
  7. This position may involve direct supervision of staff.
 
WHAT YOU REQUIRE
The following skills, knowledge and capabilities form the selection criteria that are required to perform the duties and responsibilities of the role. These should be taken in context to the What will you do section of this Position Description.
 
Professional / Technical Skills and Knowledge
  1. Highly developed knowledge and experience in the delivery of projects in two or more of the following areas: COTS implementation, ICT infrastructure commissioning, software development, strategic sourcing, and/or business improvement.
  2. Tertiary level qualifications and/or certification in Project Management and Program Management are mandatory. These include one or more of: Diploma of Project Management, PRINCE2 Practitioner, PRINCE2 Agile Practitioner, Agile Project Management (AgilePM) Practitioner, Management of Successful Programmes (MSP) Foundation.
 
Behavioural Capabilities
  1. Well-developed and demonstrated leadership and people management experience, including the ability empower people to achieve the best outcomes for the department, its stakeholders and the citizens 
  2. Excellent stakeholder engagement and communications skills, including the ability to write for a range of government audiences, present information concisely and accurately to senior stakeholders, brief senior executives and deliver high quality documentation.
  3. Excellent ability to accurately analyse and assess project health, with particular focus on scope adherence, governance and risks and issues, in order to report on project status and inform decision making at critical junctures of delivery.
  4. Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to changing circumstances and multiple priorities and demands, including the ability to deliver under tight timeframes.
  5. Demonstrated commitment to high quality customer service.
 
Must be an Australian citizen for this requirement in order to gain baseline clearance.
