Senior Property Underwriter

As a Senior Property Underwriter with CGU, you’ll help shape smart, tailored solutions for complex industrial property risks while building trusted relationships with brokers and partners. You’ll use your experience and judgement to balance risk, opportunity and customer needs, all while contributing to a strong, high-performing team. If you enjoy being close to the market, influencing outcomes, and sharing your knowledge to lift others, this is a role where your expertise will genuinely matter. This is a permanent full-time role based in Naarm (Melbourne).

What You'll Do

• Underwrite complex ISR property risks, making sound decisions on coverage, pricing and terms within risk appetite.
• Develop and deliver tailored underwriting solutions that support growth, retention and long-term portfolio performance.
• Build and manage strong broker relationships, staying close to the market and identifying new business opportunities.
• Create and execute account strategies that balance customer needs with commercial outcomes.
• Provide technical guidance, referrals and mentoring to underwriters across the property team.
• Collaborate with claims, distribution, actuarial and risk partners to deliver consistent, high-quality customer experiences.

What You'll Bring

• Experience underwriting property risks, ideally within ISR or complex commercial portfolios.
• Strong technical judgement and confidence making pricing and risk decisions.
• A relationship-led approach with the ability to engage brokers and internal stakeholders.
• Curiosity and commercial thinking, with a focus on sustainable and profitable outcomes.
• A willingness to coach others and contribute as a trusted technical voice.
• Insurance qualifications or relevant experience, with a commitment to ongoing development.
