JS Careers have been engaged by a major international Insurance group in Sydney to appoint a Senior Operational Risk in Change Manager across their Transformation division. This broad and varied role is in the first line and works closely with the business.

The successful individual will work collaboratively with the broader line 1 risk function to:
- Assess the risk inherent in the transformation projects to ensure delivery of a robust control environment;
- Engender a culture of proactive risk identification;
- Provide advice to ensure risk is proactively identified and managed and controls are appropriately designed, implemented and tested.

This is a permanent role with significant career growth opportunities and visibility to the wider risk function.

We are ideally looking for risk professionals with experience in change management/transformation, technology risk and/or general risk and controls.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Define the risk management framework for change management activities and large scale projects across the firm. 
  • Evaluate a project or program of works' alignment to the strategic direction, and it’s roadmap to delivery from an operational risk perspective.
  • Oversee risk and assurance efforts over delivery of the project, addressing any issues as they arise.
  • Regular coordination and collaboration with other specialist product functions, as well as third-line assurance teams.
  • Continuous monitoring of any portfolio, program and project developments, activities, emerging risks, issue management or concerns.

Suitable candidates will possess:

  • Operational Risk Management experience within the financial services is essential
  • Tertiary education in information technology, accounting, finance etc preferred.
  • Experience dealing with project management within a risk management and/or internal audit environment preferred, or experience leading large-scale risk transformation programs across a financial service environment.
  • Strong relationship and communication skills.
  • Proven experience leading and managing a team of professionals.
