Senior Risk Management Project Officer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Risk Management Project Officer to support a complex ICT program within a secure government environment. This role is responsible for leading and coordinating risk, issue, and benefits management activities across multiple program lifecycle stages, including acquisition, sustainment, and transition into operational service. Working within a dynamic stakeholder environment, you will provide strategic risk analysis, governance support, and assurance activities to enable informed decision-making and successful program outcomes. This role is a 12-month fixed term contract based in Canberra.

What You’ll Do

• Maintain and enhance risk, issue, and benefits registers across the full ICT program lifecycle.
• Identify, assess, prioritise, and monitor risks, issues, opportunities, and benefits.
• Facilitate risk workshops and stakeholder engagement sessions to assess control effectiveness and treatment strategies.
• Prepare governance reporting, dashboards, briefings, and assurance documentation for senior stakeholders.
• Support transition-to-operations planning, including operational readiness, sustainment dependencies, training, and handover activities.
• Provide expert advice on risk and benefits management practices aligned to recognised frameworks and governance requirements.
• Monitor mitigation actions and benefit realisation activities to ensure delivery objectives are achieved.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by modernising and streamlining risk and assurance processes.

What You’ll Bring

• Demonstrated experience in risk management, benefits realisation, or program assurance within complex ICT or Defence-related environments.
• Strong understanding of risk and governance frameworks such as ISO 31000, MSP, and enterprise governance practices.
• Experience working across acquisition, sustainment, and operational delivery environments.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence across technical and non-technical teams.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced program environment.
• Ability to operate autonomously, apply sound judgement, and deliver high-quality governance outcomes.
• Relevant qualifications or certifications in risk management, project/program management, or ICT governance are highly regarded.
• Current NV1 Security Clearance (or equivalent active clearance eligibility).
