The Opportunity

We are seeking a Corporate Senior Lawyer to join our new, global, Digital Legal Delivery practice to be based in Melbourne or Sydney.

As a Senior Solicitor in the Corporate team within our Digital practice, you will contribute to the team's excellent client service delivery, and will play a significant role in the team's ongoing success and continued growth.

In this role, you will be responsible for the delivering and supervising the delivery of Digital’s corporate legal work, including Digital’s commercial contracting mandates and due diligence and providing transaction support.

Working closely with the Manager, your role will include:

Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a variety of commercial contracts;

Preparing contract reviews and providing other due diligence/transaction support, in connection with corporate, property or financing transactions;

Conducting quality control and ensuring relevant legal issues are fully understood by the team and escalating any issues;

Dealing with complex issues on individual matters that are escalated by junior members of the team, with support from management;

Communicating with external clients and internal clients (partners/senior associates/solicitors) on individual matters;

Managing resources on individual matters;

Supporting the design of processes/workflows for individual matters (which may involve the use of legal technology or innovative legal processes); and

Assisting with the financial discipline of the team and individual matters (including time recording, WIP management/reporting and billing).

In addition to this you will be expected to:

Step up and lead projects (and act as the key client contact on matters), escalating to Management as required.

Supervise, train and mentor junior team members.

Make recommendations for improvements in the quality and efficiency of service delivery. In doing so, you will be supported to explore/challenge how legal technology (such as artificial intelligence software, contract automation, and collaboration portals) and legal process can drive efficiencies for HSF and our clients.

Work as part of the broader ALT team including being a key contact for Corporate in Australia and across our global network.

Provide any other assistance to the business on client matters and related tasks as required.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

corporate/commercial

commercial contracting experience (particularly experience in drafting and negotiating IT, procurement, customer and other commercial agreements) is highly desirable.

experience leading (or playing a significant role) on due diligence exercises as part of corporate, real estate or finance transactions.

solid technical legal skills, including drafting, negotiation and matter management skills.
