Senior Tax Lawyer

A leading national firm is looking to appoint a Senior Associate (5–8 PQE) to join its growing Tax team in Sydney.

In this role, you’ll work closely with two highly respected Partners on a broad range of complex tax advisory and dispute matters, supporting the continued growth of a well\-established practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong tax lawyer seeking greater client exposure and high\-quality advisory work.

The Role

This role offers the opportunity to work on a broad range of complex tax advisory and dispute matters across both direct and indirect taxes. You’ll advise on income tax, CGT, GST, stamp duty and international tax issues, while also playing a key role in structuring transactions, managing tax risk reviews and delivering strategic advice to clients.

You will work closely with senior practitioners on technically challenging matters, take the lead on advisory projects, and build strong client relationships through regular interaction with clients, regulators and external stakeholders. The position also offers the opportunity to mentor junior lawyers and contribute to the continued growth and profile of the practice.

About You

• 5–8 years’ PQE from a reputable law firm or the legal arm of a large accounting firm
  


• Strong technical expertise across direct and indirect tax
  


• Excellent drafting, analytical and communication skills
  


• Ability to build trusted client relationships and provide commercially focused advice
  


• Proven experience managing complex matters with minimal supervision
  


• A portable practice is highly regarded, but not essential
