Job Description - Senior Technical Service Engineer

The Power Quality (PQ) division at Eaton Electrical provides power management solutions including uninterruptable power supplies (UPS\u2019s), surge protective devices, power distribution units (PDU\u2019s), remote monitoring, software, power factor correction, airflow management, rack enclosures and services. We strive for continued success in leveraging technical innovation to develop next-generation solutions.\n\nWe are looking for a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in UPS and critical power systems to provide hands on technical support to single phase, three phase UPS range and DC systems. This will include commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance to Field Service Technicians, Project Management Team, and Customers.\n\nThis is a great opportunity for a Field Service Technician who wants to step up in their career and move towards a training and leadership role. The role will require to travel to sites (30%) and also travel to factory or other Eaton sites for training and testing. \n\n## Key Duties:\n\n * \"Provide expert technical support and the subject matter expert (SME) of technical services of Eaton\u2019s UPS products and solutions (1-Phase, 3-Phase, and DC systems), including commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance to Field Service Technicians, Project Management Team, and Customers. Deliver the product technical trainings, and participate in testing such as Factory Acceptance / Witness Testing (FAT/FWT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) for critical power projects. Ensure high standards of service delivery, safety, and customer satisfaction across ANZ. The role will require to travel to the sites to support the field service teams (30%) and also travel to factory or other Eaton sites for training and testing \n\" \n\n\n\"1. Technical Support \u0026 Troubleshooting \n\u2981 Respond to customer and field service requests for technical support on DC and UPS systems including other Power Quality products \n\u2981 Diagnose and resolve hardware, firmware, and configuration issues, both remotely and on-site. \n\u2981 Provide guidance on system operation, maintenance, and upgrades. \n\u2981 Liaise with engineering and product teams to escalate complex issues.\n\n2\\. Commissioning, Testing \u0026 Maintenance Technical Support \nTechnical Support commissioning, maintenance and testing of UPS systems at Eaton and customer sites, including integration with batteries and monitoring systems. Attend the site commissioning, testing, and repair as required as level 1 and 2 support resource. Providing technical direction and complete the MOP templates required to perform these activities.\n\n3\\. Factory Testing \u0026 Acceptance \n\u2981 Attend and participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Factory Witness Testing (FWT) for UPS and DC equipment, following approved test scripts and procedures \n\u2981 Lead the creation of Testing templates required for UPS and DC systems \n\u2981 Review and verify test results, ensuring equipment meets project specifications and customer requirements. \n\u2981 Document and report findings from factory tests to project and engineering teams.\n\n4\\. Training \u0026 Knowledge Transfer \n\u2981 Deliver technical training to customers, field service engineers, and contractors on UPS \u0026 DC Systems: operation, maintenance, repair, and safety. \n\u2981 Develop and update training materials, manuals, and best practice guides. \n\u2981 Mentor technical support coordinators and support ongoing competency development within the team.\n\n5\\. Documentation \u0026 Reporting \n\u2981 Assist Technical Service Manager in investigating and preparing detailed service reports, failure analysis reports, test records, and customer communication following each intervention. \n\u2981 Maintain accurate records of service activities, issues, and resolutions in the service management system. \n\u2981 Provide feedback to product and engineering teams for continuous improvement.\n\n6\\. Safety \u0026 Compliance \n\u2981 Adhere to Eaton\u2019s safety policies and procedures, including PPE, SWMS, and electrical safety protocols. \n\u2981 Ensure all work complies with relevant Acts, standards, and customer site requirements. \n\u2981 Participate in safety audits, toolbox talks, and ongoing EHS training.\" \n\n\n\n\n## Qualifications:\n\n * Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience. \n\"Proven experience supporting 3-phase UPS systems and/or DC systems (\u003e= 5 years) \n \nElectrical License is prefered or a plus\" \n \n\n\n\n\n## Skills:\n\n * \"Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for power electronics and battery systems. \nExperience with factory testing, commissioning, and technical training delivery. \nExcellent communication and customer service skills. \nCommitment to safety and continuous learning.\" \n\"* Excellent communication and customer service skills. \n* Great in Teamwork \u0026 Collaboration with field service team and other stakeholders \n* Willingness to travel for site support and factory testing (typically 10\u201330%) \n* Adaptability \u0026 Flexibility on changing priorities and customer needs \n* Excellent in Time Management \u0026 Organization \n* Handling Conflict Resolution in proffesional manner \nCurrent unrestricted Driver License \n\"\n\n\n\nWe are committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for all job applicants and employees.
