Salary: Clerk Grade 11/12 ($154,231 - $178,369 pa), plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

Your role

Provide expert technical leadership and specialist advice across facilities management, lifecycle maintenance and capital works programs for a diverse portfolio of DCJ assets. The role supports organisational objectives through strategic asset planning, technical innovation and the optimisation of asset performance, ensuring assets remain safe, compliant, fit-for-purpose and aligned with operational requirements throughout their lifecycle.

What you’ll do

The Senior Technical Specialist delivers high-level technical expertise and practical solutions to complex asset, maintenance, design and construction challenges across the DCJ asset portfolio.

Working collaboratively with Major Projects teams, business stakeholders, consultants, delivery partners, service providers and contractors, the role provides technical assurance and guidance to support informed decision-making, effective risk management and the successful delivery of maintenance and capital works programs.

The role ensures technical solutions align with operational needs, asset performance objectives, legislative and regulatory requirements, and industry best practice, contributing to sustainable, efficient and high-performing asset outcomes across the portfolio.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing expert technical advice and resolving complex technical issues


• Reviewing technical information and recommending practical, evidence based solutions


• Identifying technical risks and developing appropriate mitigation strategies


• Supporting capital works planning and delivery through specialist technical input


• Maintaining current knowledge of DCJ assets, industry developments and emerging technologies


• Contributing to technical strategies, roadmaps and major periodic maintenance planning


• Using asset condition and lifecycle information to support sustainable investment decisions


• Ensuring technical solutions comply with relevant legislation, government requirements, industry standards and best practice


• Identifying opportunities to improve asset performance, energy efficiency and service delivery

Supporting business continuity while upgrades are delivered within aging, operational and heritage assets.

The successful candidate will join the Major Projects team within Infrastructure and Assets, supporting the delivery of complex capital works across a diverse portfolio of operational, secure and heritage assets.

The team works collaboratively with operational business areas, technical specialists, consultants, delivery partners, service providers and principal contractors. It offers a professional and supportive environment that values sound technical judgement, accountability, open communication, practical problem solving and continuous improvement.

What we’re looking for

We are seeking an experienced technical professional with strong knowledge of facilities management, lifecycle maintenance, building systems and capital works upgrades.

The successful candidate will hold a tertiary qualification, trade certification or relevant experience in a facilities management related discipline, or possess equivalent knowledge, skills and experience. A demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development is essential.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

• Extensive technical knowledge relevant to facilities, buildings, building services or asset management


• Experience resolving complex technical, maintenance, design or construction issues


• Experience supporting capital works within operational or heritage environments


• The ability to interpret technical documentation, asset condition information and compliance requirements


• Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, government standards, industry requirements and best practice


• The ability to identify technical risks and develop practical mitigation strategies


• Experience working collaboratively with consultants, delivery partners, service providers and principal contractors


• Strong written communication, stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills


• The ability to provide clear, evidence based advice, including when information is incomplete or timeframes are constrained
