Senior Tradesperson/Leading hand (cabinetmaker/shopfitter expertise)

Xzibit is a leading commercial exhibition company. We are seeking a dedicated Senior Tradesperson/Leading Hand to join our Production Team to play a pivotal role in creating high-quality display items, custom cabinetry, and exhibition installations. If you are ready to take ownership of major projects, mentor a team, and travel to lead your projects being installed, we want to hear from you!


This is your chance to lead projects and events like the Avalon Air Show, Defence, Pharmaceutical, Major motor vehicle shows



What you will do


Reporting to the Production Manager, you will be responsible for the end-to-end fabrication and assembly of our bespoke projects.



  • Custom Fabrication: Expertly build and assemble all custom elements, including cutting, laminating, and finalising display items and cabinetry.

  • Installation & Travel: Attend project sites (including regional and interstate travel) to lead the install of exhibits, ensuring timely and high-quality assembly.

  • Operational Excellence: Lead the quality of our builds and mentor a team of tradespeople. Maintain and improve production standards for our workshop. 

  • Quality & Safety: Receive and inspect materials, construct stands accurately according to plans, and strictly adhere to all company WHS policies, site rules, and safety regulations.

  • Team Support: Work collaboratively with the Production and Project Managers, mentor apprentices and junior tradespersons, and contribute actively to continuous improvement and project debriefs.

What you will bring


Your success in this role will be measured by adherence to quality standards, positive feedback on installations, accurate hour management, and your commitment to team collaboration and safety compliance.



Qualifications & Experience:



  • 5+ years of experience as a Cabinet Maker/Shop Fitter

  • Certificate III in Cabinet Making/Shopfitting

  • QLD White Card and current Australian driver's licence

  • Passion for travel and a willingness to work flexible hours

  • Permanent Australian Resident

  • Ability to read and interpret plans/drawings accurately.

  • Physically fit and able to lift/handle heavy equipment safely.

  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and good teamwork skills.



Desirable:



  • Forklift licence
