Join us as a senior member of our Workers Compensation team as Senior Workers Compensation Underwriter and take ownership of a portfolio that has real influence in the Tasmanian market. This is a permanent full-time role based in Nipaluna (Hobart, TAS).
What You'll Do
- Underwrite new and renewal Workers Compensation business using sound judgement and established risk selection and pricing frameworks.
- Strengthen relationships with brokers and partners through regular meetings, market‑facing engagement and consistent, high‑quality service.
- Use underwriting tools and data to assess risk, set terms, and negotiate outcomes that balance customer needs and portfolio performance.
- Manage the end‑to‑end process for adjustments, renewals, and Burner/CER calculations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Collaborate closely with local and national teams, including Claims, Customer Relationship Specialists and cross‑functional partners, to drive growth and continuous improvement.
- Monitor market trends, competitor movements and pricing shifts to support planning and portfolio decisions.
What You'll Bring
- Strong Workers Compensation underwriting experience and confidence working with brokers and external partners.
- Ability to work autonomously in a smaller market while staying connected to a highly collaborative national team.
- Clear and practical communication skills, especially when explaining decisions or negotiating terms.
- An organised, detail‑focused approach with the ability to balance service, risk and commercial outcomes.
- A growth mindset and willingness to share knowledge, support peers and contribute to uplift across the underwriting community.
