About SOCO

SOCO is a leading Australian IT consultancy delivering secure, scalable, and impactful solutions across government and regulated sectors. With deep capability in cloud platforms, data and AI, modern workplace, and cybersecurity, we help clients harness technology to solve complex challenges and deliver better outcomes.

As part of our growth in the Business Applications business unit, we are looking for a ServiceNow Technical Consultant with deep technical capability, strong consulting skills, and a focus on customer outcomes. You’ll work closely with delivery teams and client stakeholders to design and build fit-for-purpose ServiceNow solutions across ITSM, ITOM, HRSD, CSM, and beyond.

Role Overview

As a ServiceNow Technical Consultant at SOCO, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, technically sound ServiceNow solutions that align with customer needs and strategic goals. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, design solutions, and implement scalable and secure ServiceNow applications, integrations, and workflows.

Key Responsibilities

Consulting & Solutioning
Engage directly with clients to understand their business needs and translate them into ServiceNow solutions using platform best practices and a consultative mindset.
Lead or contribute to workshops, requirement gathering, and technical design sessions.

Development & Implementation
Design and configure ServiceNow modules and workflows across a range of use cases including ITSM, ITOM, HRSD, and CSM.
Develop scripts (server-side and client-side), UI actions, business rules, and integrations using JavaScript, Glide, REST/SOAP, and other ServiceNow technologies.
Implement role-based access controls, platform governance measures, and security-aligned configurations.

Integration & Optimisation
Build and maintain integrations with third-party systems using web services, SSO, LDAP, and similar protocols.
Ensure platform performance, scalability, and maintainability through continuous improvement and post-deployment optimisation.

Quality & Assurance
Participate in peer reviews, code reviews, and quality assurance activities to maintain high technical standards.
Contribute to test planning and defect resolution during project lifecycles.

Knowledge & Support
Provide expert-level guidance to clients and internal teams.
Support user enablement activities, including training materials, knowledge articles, and handover documentation.

Security & Compliance
Ensure compliance with Australian government security requirements and ServiceNow platform governance.
Support clients with data protection, privacy compliance, and alignment to frameworks such as the ISM and Essential Eight.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • 3–7+ years of ServiceNow development and consulting experience.

  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) (or ability to complete within 6 months of hire).

  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD) or Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) certification in one or more relevant modules (e.g., ITSM, ITOM, HRSD, CSM) is required.

  • Strong scripting and development skills (JavaScript, GlideScript, HTML/CSS).

  • Demonstrated experience delivering across multiple ServiceNow modules.

  • Proven success in designing, developing, and deploying enterprise-scale ServiceNow solutions.

  • Familiarity with integration patterns, data migration, and ServiceNow’s Common Services Data Model (CSDM).

  • Strong knowledge of platform security concepts including ACLs, RBAC, and encryption.

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and documentation skills.

Desirable Attributes

  • Prior experience working in secure or regulated environments.

  • Knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies.

  • Understanding of ITIL processes and practices.

  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a collaborative delivery team.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills.

  • Customer-centric mindset and a passion for delivering high-quality solutions that improve user experience and business outcomes.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be an Australian citizen.

  • Hold or be eligible to obtain an NV1 security clearance.
