Your Role

 


As the Settlement Engagement Worker, you will play a key role in supporting people from refugee and humanitarian entrant backgrounds to access services, build connections and engage confidently in their new community. Based within the North Coast Settlement Service, this role focuses on creating welcoming, responsive and culturally safe support for clients. You will be a trusted first point of contact, helping people navigate services, connect with opportunities and feel supported every step of the way.

Your Responsibility

 




  • Deliver warm, respectful and responsive customer service for enquiries relating to support, volunteering, membership and donations




  • Complete intake assessments and make appropriate internal and external referrals




  • Collect and record data in line with Data Exchange and reporting requirements




  • Support and participate in community development activities including Harmony Day, Refugee Week and other local events




  • Build and maintain partnerships that support positive outcomes for clients




  • Contribute to continuous improvement through accurate data capture and feedback



You Will Need

 




  • Relevant community services qualification and or lived experience.



  • Group facilitation experience


  • Demonstrated experience working with humanitarian entrants and or other vulnerable migrants in a settlement context.




  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with people from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences, including cultural sensitivity and cross cultural communication.




  • Ability to assess needs and respond appropriately to service user enquiries.




  • Strong computer literacy and time management skills, with the ability to use multiple systems, particularly Microsoft Office.




  • Ability to work discreetly and comply with all privacy and confidentiality requirements.




  • Fluency in a community language is highly regarded, ideally Anuak or Arabic
