SHEQ Supervisor

Shirley Parsons are working exclusively with a growing waste management business on this newly created role. We are seeking a dynamic and influential practitioner who can support the business on its safety journey. The goal is to create a proactive safety culture, generating a consistent approach to HSEQ excellence across operations. 

Reporting to the Group SHEQ Manager, you will be responsible for promoting safety, environmental and quality awareness across the Newcastle sites. Key to your success will be the ability to develop effective working relationships with site teams - driving continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities:

• Promote safety, environmental and quality awareness 
• Develop effective working relationships with leadership and operational teams
• Support, train and coach colleagues in risk management and implementation of controls
• Schedule and lead toolbox talks
• Conduct workplace inspections to monitor effective safe systems of work
• Conduct investigations, identifying and closing out any remedial actions
• Report to the Group SHEQ Manager and provide operational support to the Environmental Manager
• Participate in SHEQ reporting
• Maintain Legislative Compliance and ISO certification
• Regular travel across regional sites 

The SHEQ Supervisor will have: 

• 3-5 years’ experience in Health and Safety with exposure to high-risk sectors (civil construction, mining, transport, waste management etc)
• Demonstrable safety leadership skills
• Resilient and emotionally intelligent, able to build effective relationships at all levels 
• Possess a pragmatic and modern approach to H&S Management
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Team focused and collaborative
• Current NSW driver’s license – requires travel throughout the region
