Shiploading Coordinator

Location: Geraldton Port

Roster: 4 Days, 4 Nights, 4 Off

Hourly Rate: $41.78 per hour + Superannuation 

Shift Length: Up to 12 hours, with a guaranteed minimum of 8 hours per shift.

Type: Permanent

Based at Newhaul Port Logistics, Geraldton Port, the Shiploading Coordinator is responsible for supervising and coordinating all operational aspects of the shiploading process to ensure bulk vessels are loaded safely, efficiently and in compliance with Newhaul, Port and cargo requirements.

This role plays a central part in shift planning, control room operation and issue resolution during the shiploading and operational process.

Key Duties & Responsibilities 

• Oversee and coordinate bulk vessel loading according to planned schedules and cargo specifications and requirements.
• Monitor real-time loading feed rates and adjust to maximise efficiency and production.
• Demonstrated knowledge, experience and understanding of port operations.
• Ensure all loading activities adhere to relevant legislation, port regulations, and company policies and procedures.
• Liaise with the operations team to plan and manage employee leave, shift changes, and any other coverage required.
• Coordinate and maintain the loader operators roster to ensure personnel requirements are met across all shifts during ship loading.
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation of cargo loaded, operational incidents, and performance logs.
• Communicating with Shipping Agent and Draft Surveyor along with lab ensuring speedy release of sample results.
• Oversee & conduct cargo sampling to ensure compliance is maintained.
• Proactively identify hazards and implement risk mitigation strategies.
• Attend production & planning meetings to provide real‑time insight into loading progress, upcoming rosters and any issues that might affect throughput.
• Lead by example in all matters of safety behaviour.

Required Skills & Attributes 

• Strong communication and professional phone/email manner.
• Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite and computer programs.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritise & manage multiple tasks.
• Experience with MEX highly advantageous 
• Strong work ethic and problem solver.
• Calm and effective decision-maker under pressure.

• C Class Driver’s License (Manual)
• First Aid and CPR certification.
• Ability to obtain an MSIC (Essential)
