Site Engineer - Structures

The Opportunity

Downer’s Energy & Utilities business has an opportunity for a Structural Site Engineer to join our Utilities Water team working with Logan Council. Reporting to the Project Manager, this role will provide technical expertise, guidance and advice to support the delivery of construction projects. 

Working closely with Construction Managers, Project Managers, Project Engineers, Supervisors and subcontractors, you will support project priorities, schedules and budgets while helping deliver safe, practical and value-for-money outcomes for our clients and communities. 

• Assist Project Engineers with technical advice, project performance reporting and practical solutions to issues impacting agreed targets. 
• Attend initial planning visits and concept reviews, and participate in POAR processes to support value-for-money project delivery outcomes. 
• Support design and constructability reviews, including fit-for-purpose and value engineering assessments. 
• Help identify potential hazardous site activities and ensure appropriate procedures and controls are implemented. 
• Support project budgeting, cost monitoring, forecasting, subcontract progress claims, variations and procurement activities. 
• Ensure project works meet client, community, environmental and legislative expectations, and that lessons learnt are captured and shared. 

What we are looking for 

• A Structural Engineering qualification. 
• Minimum 1 year of project engineering experience within the water industry. 
• Experience managing subcontractors and supporting quality outcomes in project delivery. 
• Demonstrated financial management and reporting capability, including budgeting. 
• Clear and concise communication skills, sound computer skills and strong organisational/time management capability. 
• A collaborative relationship-builder who can work effectively with internal teams, alliance partners and stakeholders. 
• Strong attention to detail, commitment to Zero Harm and the ability to work well under pressure in a changing environment.
