The Role
Michels are seeking a Site HSE Advisor to join a major Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) project on a 5 month contract, with the potential for extension. This role is starting ASAP. The role is based in Sunshine, Melbourne working 5 or 6 days per week.
Responsibilities include:
- Promote and drive a strong safety culture and continuous improvement
- Deliver toolbox talks, site inductions, and safety training as required
- Support site teams with preparation of JSA/SWMS, hazard identification and implementation of controls
- Ensure compliance with project, rail and Michels HSE standards and legislative requirements
- Manage permits and HSE monitoring, reporting and equipment
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments
- Participate in incident investigations and complete timely reporting

What it takes:
- Qualifications in Work Health and Safety
- 3+ years of experience within an HSE role
- Good understanding of HSE legislation within the civil construction, pipeline and rail industry
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Current Driver’s Licence and White Card
- Ability to pass a rail worker medical and drug & alcohol screening
- Ability to adapt to an ever-changing work environment safely & efficiently
- Must have existing Australian work rights
