The role

In the newly created fixed term contract opportunity of Social Connection Coordinator, you will be responsible for the oversight and facilitation of social connection programs including activities and outings across regions in which Suncare provides social connection programs. 

Based at our Suncare Community Centre in Maroochydore, you will enjoy managing and leading teams to support customers and increase social connection and participation in community, centre locations, our respite cottage setting, and hired locations. You will ensure there is a holistic approach to planning, promotion, and delivery of individual and group services to ensure our customers have access to a wide range of social opportunities.

The role is offered as a three-month contract, with potential for extension and provides full time hours (Monday to Friday).

More about the role

Reporting to the Operations Manager – Community Connections and Volunteering you will:

  • Lead and support direct reports (Activities Coordinator and Diversional Therapist) in their effective administration and delivery of programs currently run from Suncare Bribie Island, Sunshine Coast and Gympie locations.
  • Support professional development of team members with emphasis on quality, continuous improvement, employee retention, and high performance.
  • Support teams to achieve Suncare community facilities and hire services are utilised to their maximum capacity and there is effective program fleet vehicle management. 
  • Manage and deliver services in accordance with relevant funding program guidelines, legislative requirements, and accreditation standards and provide leadership to ensure understanding and practice of social connection is embedded across the organisation.
  • Monitor and review the effectiveness of programs offered, analyse data to understand trends, and work with key stakeholders to better understand what older people in our communities want and implement programs that connect with socially isolated people.
  • Engage with community groups and organisations to identify and establish partnerships which facilitate inclusion and provide opportunities to expand the activity programs and resource network.
  • Undertake business development and promotion to grow and develop Suncare’s activity and outings programs across all regions including identifying, planning, and implementing new program opportunities and grant allocations. 
  • Improve the communication, distribution, and marketing of the activity and outings programs, and identify and remove gaps and inefficiencies in the information dissemination, bookings, list management, scheduling, and invoicing of activities and outings.

  • Minimum Certificate III qualification gained in a relevant field of aged care, community care, disability or lifestyle co-ordination.
  • Relevant work experience within the health, community or social services industry, including experience working in a variety of settings with culturally diverse families and indigenous communities with the ability to be culturally sensitive and respectful. 
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and practices for the effective leadership of a multi-disciplinary team. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, including ability to establish rapport, maintain positive professional relationships, and ensure effective consultation and negotiations with all stakeholders. 
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks. 
  • Strong computer literacy, a proven ability to achieve high standards of data integrity, and a continuous improvement mindset.
