Solution Designer

The opportunity to join our team

At Insignia Financial, we are evolving our Wrap platform to deliver greater flexibility, reliability, and capability at scale. This role sits at the centre of that transformation, shaping the future state of our technical ecosystem while working closely with engineering, architecture, and business stakeholders. You will play a key role in how we modernise our platform, solve complex challenges, and deliver meaningful outcomes for advisers and members. The work is varied, technical, and highly visible, giving you the opportunity to influence platform direction and partner with experienced leaders and engineers to drive real impact.

You will lead the design and direction of solutions across the Wrap platform, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and aligned to long term strategy.

• Provide technical leadership and direction across the full technology lifecycle


• Design end to end solutions that balance performance, scalability, availability, and technical debt


• Lead design reviews, walkthroughs, and solution validation activities


• Identify and resolve issues impacting architecture, application integrity, and platform simplicity


• Support engineering teams with problem diagnosis and root cause analysis


• Contribute to design, technical analysis, and delivery of software where required


• Drive service optimisation, modelling, and performance outcomes


• Lead and contribute to agile ceremonies and cross team forums


• Support enterprise initiatives and assess their impact across the Wrap value stream


• Ensure adherence to engineering standards, practices, and governance expectations

• Microfrontends built in JavaScript (ES6) using React and Redux.


• Kotlin, Java, Groovy


• Dropwizard based microservices built in Kotlin, Java and Groovy


• Data stored in MongoDB and MySQL


• Other tools to help get the job done include Elasticsearch, Kafka and RabbitMQ


• Containerized deployments with Docker

What You Bring to This Role

You bring deep experience in solution design within complex enterprise environments, with the ability to influence both technical and business outcomes.

• 10+ years experience in technology, including 5+ years in solution design or software development


• Strong grounding in object oriented design and modern engineering principles


• Experience designing across complex, integrated systems and microservices architectures


• Exposure to both custom built and packaged solutions, including vendor integration


• Strong understanding of full SDLC, agile practices, and continuous delivery


• Experience with DevOps, infrastructure automation, and modern web technologies


• Familiarity with UI and UX considerations and test automation approaches


• Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and influencing capability


• Ability to work across multiple business areas to shape solutions and build alignment


• Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent experience
