About the position - Sous Chef


Full-time permanent
Annual Salary $75,000 plus super
We are on the hunt for an experienced Sous Chef to join the team and help us make our vision come true. We are after passionate and motivated people who are keen for a challenge. The position demands a high level of experience, organisation & contemporary flair to produce elegant, unforgettable food experiences.
The Sous Chef will be responsible for assisting the Head Chef in managing the day-to-day operation of the kitchen (including running service, mis-en-place, minimising wastage and ordering) and for leading by example and maintaining the high standard in the absence of the Head Chef.
The detailed job involves:
• Participate actively in kitchen mis-en-place to ensure all ingredients and supplies are prepared for service.
• Assist in running the kitchen service, ensuring smooth operations during peak hours.
• Engage in plating dishes, focusing on presentation and quality.
• Manage stock rotation to maintain freshness and minimize waste.
• Perform general cleaning and organizational tasks to uphold kitchen cleanliness and efficiency.
• Help maintain a high standard of food quality and service in the absence of the Head Chef.
• Collaborate with the kitchen team to innovate and enhance menu offerings.
• Uphold kitchen safety protocols and hygiene standards.
• Participate in the creation of new dishes and menu planning.
• Contribute to staff training and development initiatives.
• Offer insights and suggestions for improving kitchen operations.
• Learn from top culinary professionals and gain advanced cooking skills.
Requirements from you
• Applicable trade qualifications and accreditations
• 3 years previous experience as either a Sous Chef or Chef de Partie/Commis Chef in a fine-dining environment
• Creativity and knowledge of current food trends
• Takes great pride and passion in the food you produce 
• Aptitude for preparation and planning, with strong organisational skills
• A natural team player who is happy to do their own thing when necessary but also loves the synergy of a great team
• Personal presentation & communication skills are imperative, along with a positive energy & attitude!
• Driven, ambitious and committed!
• Calm and collected - keeps a clear head and stays focused when it gets busy
