Vanilla Blue is Sydney's leading corporate caterer. We are looking for a motivated and highly experienced Sous Chef to manage our sandwich section in our busy team in Artarmon.

The Sandwich Section Manager is responsible for the day to day running of the Vanilla Blue sandwich section, making 600 to 800 gourmet sandwiches a day, managing a team of 5 this is a busy and dynamic role.

To be successful you will need to be an energetic, hands-on team leader, keeping in constant communication with your crew, encouraging them and managing with a flexible, positive style. Your presentation skills must be top-notch for this role. 

1 year experience as a similar role is essential

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Hands-on supervision and management of the sandwich team
  • Excellent communication skills are essential
  • Strong presentation skills, style and flair
  • Contribute to the development of the sandwich menu
  • Good understanding of par levels and stock control
  • Development of systems and processes to improve efficiency
  • Quality, cost & wastage control of stock and staffing
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety protocols

The Details:

  • This role is on a fixed-term contract until December 2024, with an option to extend. 
  • 38 - 40 hr week, Monday to Friday (5am to 1pm). Occasional weekend work
  • You will receive in-depth training in Vanilla Blue Systems and processes
  • This role reports directly to the Executive Chef
  • Uniform jacket/shirt and apron provided
  • Great culture, happy crew, strong management, growing business

To be Successful 

  • Minimum 1 year in a similar role
  • Catering or bulk sandwich production experience highly desirable
  • Your presentation skills must have flair and style
  • Commercial Cookery certificate an advantage
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must have the ability to stand for 5 hours uninterrupted and carry a minimum of 7 kg unassisted.
