The Team Our Stamp Duty team, within A&M's Tax practice, help clients navigate the tax and transfer duty implications of major property, corporate and investment transactions. They help businesses, investors and legal advisors understand duty, assess liabilities, review documents, spot risks or exemptions, and ensure deals are completed smoothly and compliantly. Their work sits at the heart of real estate, M&A and restructuring activity - giving our people exposure to complex, interesting matters while helping clients make confident, informed decisions.
How You Will Contribute As a Graduate in our Stamp Duty team in either Brisbane or Sydney, you'll contribute to a positive team culture within a high-performing and rapidly growing practice.
You'll also be supported by experienced leaders, with the opportunity to build strong foundations in tax consulting. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with stamp duty analysis across property, corporate and investment transactions.
- Supporting senior team members with research into state and territory stamp duty legislation and relevant cases.
- Helping prepare working papers, calculations and duty models under supervision.
- Drafting clear, concise summaries of technical issues for internal use and client deliverables.
- Supporting tax due diligence by collating information, preparing checklists and identifying preliminary risk areas.
- Working with the team to liaise with clients, advisors and revenue authorities when required.
Qualifications We're looking for someone who is keen to start a career in indirect tax, with a particular interest in Stamp Duty. If you have work experience in a similar environment that would be beneficial but not essential. You'll bring with you the following -
- A relevant completed degree in Law, Commerce, Business, Accounting, Economics or a related discipline.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret legislation and technical material.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail and good organisational skills.
- A collaborative mindset, curiosity, and a desire to grow.
