An established and highly regarded specialist accounting practice in Melbourne's South East is seeking an experienced Supervisor / Assistant Manager to join its growing team.
This is a key role within the firm, offering exposure to complex, interesting work that goes well beyond standard compliance. You'll work with a national client base and be involved in matters referred by legal professionals and courts, making this an ideal role for someone who enjoys technical challenge and variety.
The Opportunity
This position suits a senior accountant ready to step into a leadership role or an existing Supervisor/Assistant Manager looking for a firm where their expertise is genuinely valued. You will play a hands-on role in supervising staff, reviewing work, and managing complex tax matters, particularly those relating to estates, trusts and specialised structures.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise, train and mentor senior accountants, including reviewing work and assisting with technical queries
Prepare and review financial statements and income tax returns for companies, trusts, individuals and SMSFs
Identify and resolve complex taxation issues, including those arising from estate administration
Assist with financial statements for not-for-profit entities, testamentary trusts and special disability trusts
Prepare interim accounts for tax planning and year-end distribution minutes
Manage day-to-day client queries with professionalism and accuracy
Assist with ad-hoc projects and workflow improvements as required
About You
Minimum 10 years' experience in Australian public practice
Prior reviewing and supervisory experience
CA or CPA qualified
Strong technical skills with exceptional attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Confident using Microsoft Office and accounting software
Able to manage deadlines, prioritise work and work autonomously
A collaborative team player who enjoys mentoring others
