Job Description - System Administrator

Description

FP Markets Group of Companies is a well-established multi-regulated broker, founded in Australia, offering traders access to CFD trading on Forex, Indices, Commodities, Stocks and Cryptocurrencies. We are growing and looking to recruit a Full-time L1 Helpdesk - System Administrator in Australia (Sydney) office - a certified Great Place to Work®.

This role will be the first line of support for our employees and the hands-on operator for our day-to-day infrastructure. You'll troubleshoot end-user issues across Windows and macOS, manage Active Directory and file services, and keep our office network and servers running smoothly.

Reporting to: Head of Security and Infrastructure

Responsibilities:

  • Provide L1 support for end users — hardware, OS, applications, access, peripherals
  • Onboard and offboard employees: account provisioning, equipment, access, asset tracking
  • Manage Active Directory — users, groups, OUs, GPOs (ADUC / ADDC)
  • Administer Windows Server environments — file services, DFS, SMB shares, permissions
  • Support and maintain Windows and macOS endpoints — imaging, patching, configuration
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity at L2 / L3 — VLANs, switching, routing basics, Wi-Fi, VPN
  • Maintain office network equipment — firewalls, switches, access points
  • Document procedures, runbooks, and knowledge base articles
  • Escalate complex issues to L2 / infrastructure teams with clear context
  • Track tickets to resolution and meet SLA targets

Candidate profile:

  • 2+ years in helpdesk, desktop support, or junior sysadmin roles
  • Strong hands-on experience with Windows 10 / 11 and macOS
  • Windows Server administration — file shares, DFS, SMB, NTFS permissions
  • Active Directory administration — ADUC, ADDC, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP
  • Solid L2 / L3 networking fundamentals — VLANs, IP routing, DNS, DHCP, VPN
  • Clear written and verbal communication in English
  • Customer-focused mindset and structured troubleshooting approach
  • The role is available for candidates with permanent work permit in Australia only

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with FortiGate, FortiAP, or Aruba switching / wireless
  • MDM tooling — Intune, OSQuery, FleetDN, JumpCloud, ManageEngine
  • Scripting — PowerShell, Bash
  • Identity and SSO platforms — Entra ID / Azure AD, Okta, Keycloak
  • Backup and endpoint protection tooling
  • Ticketing systems — Jira Service Management, Zendesk
  • Certifications — CompTIA A+ / Network+, Microsoft, Apple, Fortinet
  • Experience in regulated environments (fintech, financial services)
