The Role

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Tax Accountant will manage and be responsible for all taxation aspects of the organisation and its related entities.

You will be responsible for managing the tax obligations and arrangements of the organisation and improving the company’s performance by recommending tax strategies that align with business goals whilst complying with relevant legislation. 

  • Manage the direct and indirect tax matters
  • Preparation of income tax returns, BAS, IAS, fringe benefits tax return, withholding tax return
  • Ensuring all documentation is available to support the returns.
  • Recommending tax strategies that align with business goals.
  • Ensure ATO audit readiness of the Company in all areas of taxation.
  • Providing advice to the Chief Financial Officer on all taxation matters, including areas to reduce tax exposure and legislative changes.
  • Liaising with the Australian Taxation Office, External Tax Accountants and regulatory bodies as required.
  • Forecasting tax liabilities.
  • Management of transfer pricing data, processes and governance to align transfer pricing requirements with business goals, promoting compliance, reducing complexity and delivering strategic insights to better business decisions.
  • Review and comment on the group’s current transfer pricing policies and intercompany transactions
  • Identification of transfer pricing planning opportunities aligned with the overall transfer pricing rules to ensure arms length outcomes for all relevant entities.
  • Ensuring transfer pricing audit readiness for the company and its subsidiaries.
  • Monitor OECD and other global transfer pricing developments; and advise the Chief Financial Officer on the potential impact of those changes.
  • Identify transfer pricing risks and implement mitigations to reduce risk.
  • Conducting a review of the transfer pricing process from identification of transfer pricing trigger events to audit resolution.
  • Testing how transfer pricing policies are executed currently (for e.g., data sources, process and calculation) and identify opportunities to improve, streamline and access efficiencies.
  • Designing and management of testing exercises required to validate that transfer pricing systems are working properly.
  • Development and management of a robust transfer pricing documentation process and identifying all transfer pricing documentation requirements across all entities of the group.

 

Skills and Experience

  • A Bachelor's degree in finance/accounting 
  • CA/CPA qualifications 
  • Big 4 1st mover or commercially experienced as a Tax Accountant or Tax Analyst
  • Advanced computer skills including Excel and Accounting packages
  • Experience with developing and implementing tax compliance governance processes
  • Experience with tax effect accounting 
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Australian Taxation Laws and other relevant legislation
  • Strong knowledge of transfer pricing requirements and legislation.
  • Previous experience with overseas taxation requirements (desirable)
  • Professional interpersonal and relationship skills, including excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking
  • Ability to multitask
  • Excellent time management skills
  • High level of attention to detail
