Job Description - Teacher - Early Childhood - McArthur - ECE

The Grey Ward Childrens Centre was established in 1908 and has a deep history and reputation for creating a well-founded family feel, welcoming and secure.

Grey Ward Childrens Centre is an integrated service tailoring for families with children aged six weeks to six years of age, renowned for quality programmes and pedagogy practice, crafting an inclusive learning environment through play.

What we are seeking

We are, in search of an experienced and dynamic Community Centre Director to lead the team and oversee the daily operations of the service. The ideal candidate will be a passionate advocate for community development, with the ability to create and implement programs that meet the needs of our diverse and inclusive environment.

Dedicated to fostering a vibrant, positive work culture and supportive environment for all members of the community centre. The Centre offers a diverse range of programs and services aimed at promoting personal growth, community engagement, and overall well-being for all children and educators.

Grey Ward Children's Centre operates in collaboration with the Department for Education (DfE), leveraging an internal support network facilitated by this affiliation. This partnership allows the Centre to access various resources, guidance, and support provided by the DfE, enhancing its ability to deliver quality services and programs to children and their families. Through this relationship, Grey Ward Children's Centre ensures that its practices and initiatives align with national educational standards and policies, benefiting from the expertise and infrastructure of the DfE.

The leader will be required to demonstrate their abilities and skillset, to ensure a smooth transition into the role validating their knowledge and expertise through the recruitment process.

Qualifications Required

  • ACECQA - Approved tertiary qualification(s) in early childhood education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood & Education
  • Valid Teachers Registration - TRB SA
  • First Aid -012
  • Food Handling Certificate
  • Allergy & Intolerance training certificate
  • RRAHN's or CSE Certificate
  • WWC Check
  • Experienced in the delivery of early childhood services/programs

Skills & Abilities

To be considered for this role with Grey Ward Childrens Centre you will hold:

  • Strong leadership skills, demonstrating your team management capabilities with people
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Robust understanding in NQF and NQS of current Early Childhood curriculum development and policies
  • A proven track record of financial and administrative duties
  • Solid written and oral language skills
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse community and foster an inclusive environment
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word and other relevant software and platforms related to this role
  • Work autonomously and as part of a team, creating a positive work culture
  • Oversee the daily operations of the community centre, ensuring a welcoming and safe environment for all.
  • Develop and implement a strategic plan that aligns with the centre's mission and goals.
  • Lead and manage a team of staff, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
  • Plan and execute a diverse range of programs and events that address the needs and interests of the children and community
  • Foster relationships with local organisations, businesses, and community leaders to enhance the centre's reach and impact.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and community impact, using feedback and data to make informed improvements.
