Secret Harbour Primary School (PS) is seeking a committed, passionate and creative upper primary teacher for our Years 5 to 6 “Challenge Class”. Our Challenge Classes enable high achieving students to have access to explicit teaching at their point of need and the opportunity to learn with like-minded peers; experiencing fast paced access to curriculum, extension and enrichment.

The successful applicant will ideally collaborate with other challenge teachers in supporting curriculum enrichment in the wider school. They would support positive relationships with families and the wider community as they strive to facilitate dynamic, innovative learning opportunities for our students. The ideal applicant should explore key data sets in gathering information to inform quality planning and would confidently use technology to support learning and assessment practices and be prepared to embed whole school approaches. Experience with Talk 4 Writing, an understanding of explicit teaching models and professional learning in Gifted and Talented Education would be advantageous.

The successful applicant would also become an integral member of our experienced and positive upper primary team, collaboratively planning key school programs and events, including year six camp, transition to high school, graduation and presentation functions. This includes attending team meetings and supporting key assessment and moderation processes, as well as enabling student attendance in wider opportunities such as IMSS (Instrumental Music,) PEAC (Primary Extension and Challenge,) and leadership positions (councillor / faction captain).

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
