Born in 1982, Sealane Food Group is an Australian owned family business, and due to our expansion are now based in a new custom built site in Heidelberg West in Melbourne.

As a distributor to both food service and retail clients, our product and brand range is extensive across frozen, chilled and dry foods as well as ancillary products like packaging and cleaning goods.
We are the exclusive distributor to many local and international retail products that you know and love and we service an extensive range of the industries across hospitality like Cafes, Restaurants, Function Centres, Caterers, Hotels, Clubs, Takeaways, including many high end well known establishments.
Sealane has a national sales network and presence and we are growing in all aspects of our business. With close to 100 staff, we are now actively looking for passionate people who love a fast faced environment, have a love for food and a love of working collaboratively.
Position Summary:
We are now looking for a proven leader that is ready to lead our established, friendly and hardworking Food Service Sales Support team. The candidate that we are looking for will come with extensive previous experience of working with food and within the food services industry. Reporting to the Head of Food Service, this Team Leader role is vitally important to the business. Your team thrives on leading and providing exceptional customer service to our customers and hands on and proactive support to our Sales Reps out on the road. In this role, you will be located in a contemporary office, guiding, supporting and leading a small team (4 people) and your customers are our hospitality venues who use our products to create their amazing dishes.
On a daily basis your team interacts with a range of food service customers, from restaurants, cafes, catering, fast food shops and all in between via phone and email to provide sales support, process orders and problem solve. At the same time, your team will be interacting with various other internal stakeholders, including our warehouse, our own sales reps and our drivers/external couriers to ensure that our customers are receiving the best service every day. You and your team will also work extremely closely with our Procurement team to ensure that product is available to your customers. You will be required to take escalations when your team requires to ensure a positive outcome.
This role is fast paced and you and your team will thrive on building amazing relationships with your customers and always finding a satisfactory solution for them. You will also get to know and love our team of Sales Reps that are out on the road. The support that you and your team will provide to them on the ground is essential to the success and growth of the overall department.
You will be resolving problems, answering questions/queries, solving problems interdepartmentally, finding opportunities for upselling/cross selling. Most importantly you will be leading a team, as such you are required to upskill and improve the team, be a stabilising and guiding influence, and ensure all of your team members’ duties are properly fulfilled, meeting all expectations of the team as a whole.
More specifically you will also be involved in Administration tasks (such as
pricing, new line forms, customer documents and terms agreements, brand range reports, in consultation with our Marketing function to create marketing collateral).
As Team Leader you will manage the day to day of your team including their action plans, rostering/scheduling. You will work closely with the Sale Reps and customers to find new opportunities, helping them with questions or queries or helping them come up with new solutions. You will work closely with management to lock in promotions and specials and help to strategize marketing plans and liaise with suppliers.
Skills Needed:
On the job training will of course be provided to you and you will be extremely supported. You will need however, to be a self-starter, someone who thrives in a fast paced environment and loves providing an exceptional customer experience and most importantly you will need to have a proven track record of leadership and have experience of working within the food industry, specifically within Food Service.
You will need to be super organised and be and be able to run rings around the necessary administration required to succeed in this role. You will need to have a positive and calm nature, even within an extremely faced paced environment and your leadership style needs to be collaborative, supportive and authentic.
You will need to have exceptional written and verbal communication. You will have a warm, positive and can-do nature. You will have outstanding interpersonal skills and be able to confidently speak to various stakeholders throughout the day. You love working in a team and building amazing relationship both internally and externally and you love leading a team with that thrives on meeting their KPI’s and enjoying continued success. You will also need to have solid skills in Excel.
