Rugby World Cup Australia is seeking experienced Team Liaison Officers (TLOs) to play a critical role in supporting participating nations throughout Rugby World Cup 2027. Acting as the trusted link between an assigned team and the Team Services department, you will help deliver a seamless, world-class tournament experience both on and off the field. From coordinating travel, accommodation and training operations to providing day to day logistical support, this is a unique opportunity to work alongside elite international teams at one of the world’s premier sporting events.


 


This is a dynamic, fast-paced position that requires exceptional relationship-building skills, adaptability and a passion for high-performance sport. TLOs will travel with their assigned team throughout the tournament, live within the team environment, and provide hands-on support across a broad range of operational and logistical activities. Successful applicants must be available from 20 September 2027 to 15 November 2027, with employment commencing from their assigned Team’s Official Arrival Date and concluding when that Team exits the tournament. TLOs are required to attend all virtual training sessions from March 2027, as well as a mandatory two day in person Team Officials workshop in Sydney in August 2027.


 


Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:


 



  • Act as the primary liaison between the Team Manager and the Rugby World Cup 2027 Team Services team, ensuring effective communication and support throughout the tournament.

  • Coordinate and manage team operational requirements, including travel, accommodation, catering, training schedules, transport, and team base arrangements.

  • Support team arrivals, departures, and movements, including baggage, equipment logistics, and travel between match cities.

  • Build strong working relationships with Team Services Management and tournament stakeholders, providing regular updates on team activities, issues, and operational requirements.

  • Deliver day-to-day team support services, ensuring a seamless experience for players and management both on and off the field.

  • Work closely with Team Security Advisors and other functional areas to support the safe, secure, and effective delivery of all team-related activities.

  • Assist with match day operations, ensuring tournament timelines, protocols, and team requirements are met.

  • Coordinate support for media commitments, community engagement activities, official functions, and team leisure activities as required.

  • Complete reporting, financial reconciliation, and administrative responsibilities, including post-event reporting and issue escalation where required.

  • Travel and reside with the assigned team throughout their tournament campaign, providing flexible, hands-on support in a high-performance environment and administrative tasks while contributing to the overall success of the Team's Rugby World Cup 2027 campaign.


 


Qualifications & Experience


 



  • Previous experience as a Team Liaison Officer, Team Operations Coordinator or in a similar support role within an international sporting environment.

  • Strong understanding of high-performance sport and the unique operational requirements of elite athletes and team management.

  • Knowledge of the Australian sporting landscape and the ability to effectively engage with a broad range of stakeholders.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to quickly build trusted relationships across diverse cultures and backgrounds.

  • Proven ability to anticipate team needs, solve problems proactively, and deliver exceptional service in a fast-paced environment.

  • Flexible, adaptable, and calm under pressure, with the ability to manage competing priorities and changing circumstances.

  • High levels of professionalism, discretion, and diplomacy when handling confidential information and sensitive stakeholder interactions.

  • Hold a valid Driver Licence (Class C or LR) and be confident driving team fleet vehicles, including SUVs and people movers, across tournament host cities.

  • Physically capable of undertaking operational tasks, including equipment handling, baggage movements, and other hands-on support activities.

  • Fluent in English, with additional language skills (particularly French, Spanish, or Japanese) highly regarded; National Police Check, Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain), and access to a personal mobile phone and laptop are required.

  • Able to commit to travel with days away from home and work evenings/weekends as required.
