About this opportunity

We specialise in the manufacture and supply of rigid plastic and metal packaging servicing for the consumer and industrial sectors.

Reporting to Plant Manager– Household and Industrial Packaging, the Technical & Projects Manager is a critical leadership role responsible for the development, planning and execution of Capex Projects, Improvement projects, Tooling, New Product Introduction, Product process optimisation on the lines and Equipment upgrades including automation and robotics.

The key focus of the role is to support Safety, Quality, Engineering, with process optimisation, Equipment upgrades, automation, Layout optimization, tooling NPD & Continuous Improvement.

Key responsibilities will be to:

  • Manage the Capex projects including designing projects, obtaining quotations, preparing capex submissions for approval, scheduling work and managing contractors.
  • Manage and coordinate the NPD process, including tooling, to ensure that projects are delivered on time and on budget
  • Co-ordinate all contractor support, services and activity as they relate to Capex, process optimisation and tooling works inclusive of cost and quote establishment, induction completion, JSEA completion and other risk assessment
  • Lead team and contractors with a focus on safety and regular participation in hazard identification and WHSE campaigns that actively drive a culture of behavioural safety.
  • Promote improvements to safety systems and use on all equipment and production lines.
  • Continue development of reporting Team and carryout Toolbox Talk meetings on Safety and Quality as required.
  • Play an active part in highlighting areas for reducing production costs such as waste, setup time etc.

Your skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

  • Proven experience in a Project Engineering role within a 24/5 High Paced manufacturing transformational environment.
  • Understanding of OEE, Root Cause Analysis and TPM operations
  • Proven ability to execute complex projects on time and on budget.
  • Resource allocation to meet project requirements
  • Familiar with SAP system
  • Familiar with CAD either SolidWorks or AutoCAD
  • Understanding of robotics and automation
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles
