Job Description - Technical Claims Advocate

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Energy & Power and Casualty Team at Marsh Risk as a Technical Claims Advocate working in our Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane office.  This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office. 

Technical Claims Advocate

We will count on you to:

  • Provide detailed threshold coverage analysis and strategic advice on incident response and claim notification for complex claims.

  • Perform factual analyses of new incidents to identify issues of characterization, coverage, exclusions and to develop strategies that optimize client outcomes.

  • Deliver point-in-time reviews and tailored claim strategies that guide and reassure clients and internal teams.

  • Manage urgent, media-sensitive or litigated large-loss matters, formulating action plans to minimise client loss and maximise insurance coverage.

  • Support claims operations advisors and attend meetings with insurers, clients and legal counsel; participate in post-loss meetings and contribute to RFPs and marketing materials.

What you need to have:

  • Strong background in insurance with hands-on claims experience across ISR, Contract Works and Casualty / Liability lines of business

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a strong customer-service orientation.

  • Proven ability to coordinate and maintain productive relationships with brokers, claim handlers, underwriters, external experts and legal counsel.

  • Ability to work autonomously, prioritise multiple work streams, and provide mentorship/support to operations staff.
