The opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Technical Services Officer to provide expert guidance and coaching to claims teams while managing complex Workers Compensation matters. This strategic role provides technical guidance and support to the team, ensures the effective delivery of claims services, assists with claims file audits, and contributes to reducing overall claim volumes.

Your new role

• Provide expert advice, training and coaching to service teams on technical claims matters, including undertaking complex activities beyond Case Manager capability
• Establish and maintain effective communication networks with internal and external stakeholders, responding to client requests in line with service standards
• Negotiate claim settlements within delegated authority and support the implementation of the Claims strategy to achieve business targets
• Attend conciliations and arbitrations at WorkCover WA
• Exhibit strong leadership through internal coaching and capability building, and through expert external guidance and education
• Interpret and action medical and financial reports, manage and instruct investigations, and implement findings in line with overall claim strategy
• Assist with auditing of claim files and ensure compliance with legislation, industry codes and company policies
• Maintain current knowledge of insurance guidelines, policy changes and modifications

About you

• Extensive experience in a similar role within the insurance industry, with demonstrated Workers Compensation expertise and an in-depth knowledge of WA legislation
• A working understanding of legal processes and protocols (desirable but not essential)
• Strong influencing capability with a genuine passion for coaching and mentoring others
• Well-developed problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to assess complex matters
• Proven conflict resolution and negotiation skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, supported by relevant tertiary and/or industry qualifications
