Job Description - Technical Team Leader

As Technical Team Leader (Anatomy), you will oversee the daily operations of the Callaghan Anatomy Teaching Laboratory. You will be responsible for ensuring the seamless preparation and execution of all laboratory-based teaching sessions and surgical training.

You will provide high-level technical services associated with the body donor program. This includes the collection, embalming, and prosection of human anatomical resource materials for teaching purposes.

In this role you will:

  • Prepare equipment and material required for classes and laboratory examinations conducted in the anatomy laboratories.
  • Mentor and train other members of the Anatomy team in relevant procedures including embalming and prosectioning techniques.
  • Maintain knowledge of current guidelines and procedures required by the NSW Health regulations and University Work Health and Safety requirements.
  • Providing support for our body donor program, servicing both Callaghan and Gosford campuses.

This continuing position is full time and will primarily be located at the Callaghan Campus, with travel to other campuses when necessary.

How will you inspire us?

You will have:

  • Experience preparing cadaveric resources and expertise in human dissection and embalming.
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable government legislation and work, health, and safety regulations pertaining to anatomy laboratory practices.
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor a team, effectively resolving both team and technical issues through clear and effective communication.

The remuneration for this position isfrom$90,316 to $99,655 pro rated + 17%superannuation and is commensurate with skills and experience.

  1. A degree or extensive relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  2. Demonstrated experience in embalming and preparation of fresh frozen specimens as well as preparing high quality prosected material for teaching and training purposes.
  3. Experience in dealing with the Anatomy Act and Human Tissue, Anatomy and Disposal of Bodies legislation as it relates to tertiary teaching Anatomy laboratories.
  4. Demonstrated experience in Work, Health and Safety procedures and maintaining Safety records and standards.
  5. Demonstrated experience in staff management, mentoring and conflict resolution.
  6. Good organisational and time management skills.
  7. The ability to communicate well with academic and professional staff, students, and body donor families.
